Things to do on Aitutaki

1.  THE MUST DO! Cruise the lagoon with local guides. Snorkel or swim in crystal clear waters, enjoy an on-board barbecue and discover palm fringed islets with white sandy beaches

2. Get a unique stamp in your passport at One Foot Island - Tapuaetai. The tiny islet is one of the stopping off points on the lagoon cruise

3. Enjoy (and join in) an evening of dancing and feasting at an island night

5. Try your hand at kitesurfing...and you don't need to be an expert as there are locals who can teach you. Honeymoon Island is said to be the best spot for the sport and has been the venue for international competitions

6. Swim or dive the pristine waters of the lagoon where green turtles abound. Outside the reef there are larger species like parrot-fish and Napoleon Wrasse as well as sharks! Diving trips and courses for beginners to experts are on offer

7.   If you're up to it, climb 124 metres to the highest point, Maunaga Pu ("top of the mountain") for a great view of the whole island. Or just take a leisurely stroll and chat to the locals

8.Try your hand at catching bonefish. Some of the world's largest live in the lagoon. According to locals the ‘ghost of the flats’ presents one of the most thrilling fly fishing and spin fishing opportunities out there!

9. If you're the energetic sort and you're on Aitutaki in April, you could take part in the 'Pursuit in Paradise' marathon. Or show off your weightlifting skills at the fitness festival in November. Or  just watch!
